Béjar: Where COMPANION Was Born

SierradeBejar 4.jpg

Béjar is a city in the province of Salamanca, in Castilla y León, Spain. This town has an incomparable natural charm and a long enriching history. The citizens of Béjar would say that you breathe peace in its streets, that the sunny climate is not found in other cities around it and that it is an ideal place to live a quiet stress-free life. And, currently, this city is the residence of many seniors citizens, those of whom say are fortunate enough to live out the rest of their days in Béjar.

However, despite all the potential that the city and the environment have to offer, you will inevitably meet people in Nursing Homes or in their own homes that suffer from neglect and loneliness every day. Such lack of hope leads to a very sad and lonely lifestyle.

The COMPANION association was born out of witnessing the very need to accompany the elderly in the last years of their lives. To do this, one of our main goals as a team is to share the gospel of Christ with them, that Christ may heal their wounds, fill them with love and peace and give them hope of eternal life. At the same time, we will walk alongside them, giving them the attention needed, as they maintain their independence and privacy as long as possible. We will impart joy in their day to day lives with “Mornings of COMPANION” in the city of Béjar.

The presence of Evangelical Church in Béjar has been essential for the creation of COMPANION, and its volunteers have allowed this to happen.

This first entry in the news section is to inform those who may be interested in this non-profit association that originated in Béjar out of the love of its city and its people. We encourage you to continue checking the website for future news and events.

Thank you!
